The Indian Society of Anesthetists plan to implement minimum standards for patient care which means that it will be mandatory for Anesthetists to have a skilled assistance for at least the start and end of every Anesthetic procedure. These skilled assistance need to be trained properly especially in cases of Cardiac Anesthesia. After successful completion of the course the student will be able to assist / help the Cardiac Anesthetist during surgical procedures with proper skill, knowledge and attitude. 3. PG Diploma in Medical Research Assistant

The PG Diploma Course in Medical Research Assistant will train students to work as Medical Research Assistants in the Research Department of Hospitals and Medical Research Institutes. They ensure that the lab is organized and runs smoothly and that standard lab procedures are used for collecting and storing data. The Medical Research Assistant also trains and supervises new research personnel and students in these procedures. He helps to design studies, run studies store data, prepare figures and tables, statistical analyses and slides and posters for presentation. He may also record vital signs, draw blood, help in ECG’s and other clinical tests. He may also assist with phones, screening calls, enrollment and regulatory data entry. The Cath lab technologists demonstrate advance technical proficiency for all Cardiac Catheterization procedures and provide continuous care to all patients with multiple needs. Cath lab techs work with doctors to diagnose heart problems in patients by preparing patients for invasive cardiac procedures. The Cath lab tech prepares patients by helping them onto an examination table for the catheterization and monitors the patient’s vital signs and alerts the doctor of any problems. PG Diploma in Perfusion Technology prepares students for the job of a perfusionist who is a skilled person, qualified by academic and clinical education who operates the heart lung machine when it is necessary to replace the patients circulatory or respiratory function. The course is intended to give training in cardiopulmonary by-pass techniques. This would involve some knowledge of anatomy physiology and physics. These technologists also have training in monitoring techniques, which are essential for perfusion. The perfusionist is skilled in the administration of blood products, anesthetic agents and drugs through the extra corporeal circuit. Further the perfusionist is also knowledgeable and competent in the management of other perfusion related equipment, techniques and procedures. After successful completion of the course the student will be able to operate the heart lung machine when it is necessary to replace a patient circulatory or respiratory function and able to manage perfusion related equipments, techniques and procedures. 7. P G Diploma in Cardiac Pulmonary Physiotherapy

PG Diploma in Cardiac Pulmonary Physiotherapy prepares students to work as Respiratory Therapists or Cardiopulmonary Technologists who deliver medication to patients who have difficulty breathing. This field also referred to as Cardiopulmonary has gained a lot of importance and such trained Cardiac pulmonary physiotherapists are in great demand in Hospitals of India and abroad. P G Diploma in Echo Cardiography & Sonography : The P G Diploma in Echo Cardiography & Sonography is a specialized healthcare field and involves the assessment of cardiovascular anatomy (the structure and function of the heart and blood vessels) with the use of specialized ultrasound technology. The Echocardiographer (or Cardiac Sonographer or Echo Tech) receives specialty training in cardiac ultrasound technology. Echocardiography maps the structures of the heart and vessels, such as valves and walls, and provides detailed information about the efficiency of blood flow through the cardiovascular system. Also known as Cardiac Sonography, Echocardiography is now replacing older radiology studies as a safer, more cost-effective, and more accurate diagnostic imaging

procedure.

The Echocardiographer performs an echocardiogram for the patient in a hospital, clinic, doctor’s office, or diagnostic imaging center setting. Cardiac Sonography jobs combine high-tech training and expertise with compassionate hands-on patient care. Echocardiographers work closely with patients throughout the procedure. He operates ultrasound equipment that collects reflected echoes and Doppler signals from images and spectral tracings of the heart. Two-dimensional images and Doppler tracings are used to assess cardiac structures and hemodynamics (study of blood flow). Echocardiographer and physicians work together with the patient during the cardiac ultrasound procedure to integrate Echo data for accurate diagnosis. 9. Advanced P G Diploma in Physician Assistant : PG Diploma in Physician Assistant will train the students to work as Physician Assistants. A Physician Assistant is a position between the Physician (Doctor) and the Nurse and will work under the supervision of the Doctor (Physician or Surgeon). The Physician Assistant is responsible for providing diagnostic and therapeutic services, to obtain patient history, perform physical examination etc. They also order diagnostic tests and x-rays, interpreting the results of such tests as instructed. A Physician Assistant may assist suturing tasks, splinting and casting under the supervision of the Doctor. Physician Assistants record progress notes and counsel patients. Physician Assistants have managerial duties in Medical offices. This Course is almost entirely Hospital and patient-based and only those who are willing to work in hospitals and dedicate themselves for patient care should opt for it. 10. Advanced P G Diploma in Emergency Medical Care

The PG Diploma in Emergency Medical Care qualifies candidates to work as Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs). EMTs are indispensable during accidents or emergencies and many lives are saved due to their hard work and commitment. People’s lives often depend on their quick reaction and competent care. Incidents as varied as automobile accidents, heart attacks, slips and falls, childbirth, and gunshot wounds all require immediate medical attention. EMTs provide this vital service and transport the sick or injured to a medical facility/Hospital. In an emergency, EMTs are typically dispatched by an operator (e.g. at phone number 101 or 108) to the scene, where they often work with police and fire fighters. Once they arrive, EMTs assess the nature of the patient’s condition while trying to determine whether the patient has any pre-existing medical conditions. Following medical protocols and guidelines, they provide appropriate emergency care and, when necessary, transport the patient to a medical facility/Hospital. Some are trained to treat patients with minor injuries on the scene of an accident or they may treat them at their home without transporting them to a medical facility. PG Diploma in Cardiac Technology trains students to work as Cardiology technologists and allied health support personnel in a variety of settings in Cardiology Departments of Hospitals and in Heart Hospitals. A Cardiology technologist is trained to perform diagnostic procedures at the request of the physician to evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with cardiac disease. The work place will vary from doctors’ offices to hospital Cardiology departments. Cardiology technologists operate machines like ECG machines that record the electrical changes that occur during and between heartbeats and a printout is made for interpretation by the physician. Cardiology technologists also perform other important tests and help Physicians use the output to diagnose arrhythmias or problems with pacemakers. They also assist with treadmill stress testing as well and document the patient’s medical history and explain the procedure. PG Diploma in Dialysis Management is a full time course. Dialysis is most frequently done nowadays because nephrological ailments occur commonly in all stages of life among urban as well as rural population. Due to this, new separate hospitals for nephrology and departments especially for nephrology are being established in running hospitals to handle all types of dialysis. A dialysis technician plays an important role in the procedure of dialysis and the demand of such a technician is increasing day by day.
